Jesus Souza Troncoso is Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (University of Santiago de Compostela – Spain – 1990). Actually he is the Director of the Marine Science Station of Toralla, he holds a Full Professorship in Marine Zoology at the Department of Ecology and Animal Biology in University of Vigo, of which he was Secretary and Director; he was Dean of Marine Sciences Faculty of Vigo University as well. He has been PI in 18 and participated as researcher in 23 publicly funded research projects. His main research interests are related to benthic fauna, mollusk ecology and taxonomy areas in which he is the author of 4 books, 15 book chapters, more than 140 scientific papers in leading local and international journals, in some of them he is member of the editorial board, and several (more than 400) contributions to national and international conferences. He has supervised 13 PhD Theses and 6 Master theses, and imparted lecturers at undergraduate, master and doctoral level in areas related to marine zoology. Prof. Troncoso is member of the Executive Board of MARS, the European Network of Marine Research Stations and Institutes, President of Spanish Malacological Society, Secretary of UNITAS Malacologica, Councilor at Science Culture and Technology Institute.
